Visiting Midtown Manhattan always makes me feel like I’ve stepped inside a postcard. Between Times Square, the famous buildings, and Rockefeller Center, Midtown Manhattanfeelsl like the New York City portrayed in pop culture.
If you’re visiting New York City, there’s a good chance you will at some point find yourself in Midtown. While in the area, you should take advantage of the opportunity and embrace one of the cornerstones of New York culture: the pizza.
Midtown has dozens upon dozens of noteworthy pizza joints, and anyone familiar with the area is sure to have a few specific favorites that they insist are the very best.
I have several go-to preferred pizza shops sprinkled throughout Midtown, with an option available whether I’m hanging out in Greenwich Village or catching a show at Radio City Music Hall.
To help out anyone less familiar with this iconic section of Manhattan, I’ve compiled a list of all of my favorite pizza places in Midtown. Check out my list of the best pizza in Midtown, NYC below!

For an authentic pizza that tastes like it would be served up by Cousin Antonio and made according to a secret recipe passed down from Nonna herself, try Little Italy Gourmet Pizza.
Though it’s not located in the eponymous neighborhood, Little Italy Pizza delivers the goods.
You can’t go wrong with their iconic Neapolitan thin-crust pizza, but my personal favorite was the New Grandma, a decadent Sicilian crust pie that’s topped with fresh mozzarella and Little Italy Pizza’s signature pesto sauce.
For those looking to innovate their pizza experience, I recommend the “fusion” offerings, including a chicken teriyaki pizza, sweet & spicy chicken pizza, and more.
Pizzarte

Pizzarte’s name is a portmanteau that means, obviously, “pizza art”—and its food certainly delivers on this promise. The restaurant aims for what it calls “New Old,” blending the very long pizza tradition of Campania, Italy, with modern stylings.
This interest in balancing classicism and innovation has paid off for Pizzarte.
For those interested in something beyond hyper-conventional New York pizza, I recommend the cavolfiore e tartufo pizza, which is topped with cauliflower, mozzarella, sausage, and a to-die-for black truffle sauce.
To boot, Pizzarte offers the unique experience of high art alongside pizza, displaying a full-fledged art gallery in the restaurant.
My Pie Pizzeria Romana

My Pie Pizzeria Romana takes pride in using a more involved pizza recipe, and that choice makes it an absolute standout.
Its pizzas are made from a flour blend straight from Rome, have no added sugar (which demands a much longer prep period for the dough), and are cooked at different temperatures at their top and their bottom.
If that process sounds convoluted, it’s because it is—it requires only the most skilled pizza artisan to ensure that the Taglio alla Romana pizza comes out perfect.
But once they do, it’s paradise on a plate. I recommend the “Nonnina,” which is made from Italian tomato sauce, basil, fresh mozzarella, parmesan, roasted garlic, and olive oil.
Stone Bridge Pizza & Salad
16 E 41st St, New York, NY 10017, United States

When you think of a New York pizza restaurant, you might think of a dark, warm room where there seems to be grease on every surface.
But we New Yorkers know that that’s a very unfair stereotype—in fact, there are plenty of pizzerias dedicated to serving clean, healthy food, like Stone Bridge.
Located just a block away from Bryant Park, Stone Bridge specializes in farm-to-table pizzas that are organic and sustainable, with ingredients grown in the restaurant’s green farm in Schuylerville, New York.
Naturally, high-quality ingredients are going to lead to high-quality food. My recommendation is the Parma, a personal-sized pie topped with olive oil, garlic, herbs, pecorino romano, cherry tomatoes, arugula, and prosciutto.
NY Pizza Suprema

Get a slice of New York City history at NY Pizza Suprema.
This spot has been around since before the existence of Madison Square Garden, and the family owners have very strong opinions about New York pizza standards. If I’m looking for the most authentic pizza experience, this is where I go.
NY Pizza Suprema is so devoted to the fundamentals that they only offered slices of plain pizza for a long time. Even today, now that they’ve modernized and have slices with toppings, the cheese pizza is still their most popular item.
At this joint, I always honor tradition and order their sublime plain cheese pizza—if you have a chance to come here, I encourage you to do the same!
B Side Pizza & Wine Bar

For an artisanal pizza restaurant with a retro vibe, I have to give a shout-out to B Side Pizza & Wine Bar.
More of a dine-in restaurant experience than a take-out pizza stand, B Side’s rustic decor, and friendly vibe will make you want to get comfortable and enjoy some pies and wine with your loved ones.
Their pizzas are all fantastic, made with great ingredients in original combinations.
I’m currently in love with the “Killer Bee:” tomato, mozzarella, soppressata, garlic puree, chili oil, and honey. Whichever pizza you choose, don’t forget to pair it with a nice glass of red wine!
Sofia Pizza Shoppe
989 1st Ave, New York, NY 10022, United States
Phone: (212) 888-8816

Sofia Pizza Shoppe may be small, but its flavors are mighty. I recommend this spot to anyone in Midtown East looking for a thin, crispy slice of pizza with modern flavors.
Sofia’s gets creative without being over-the-top artisanal, and their sweet and tangy tomato sauce is a beautiful homage to Italian flavors.
My favorites at Sofia Pizza Shoppe include their white pizza and the Margherita. If you’re feeling extra indulgent, I suggest getting an order of garlic knots—you won’t regret it.
Uncle Paul’s Pizza NY
70 Vanderbilt Ave, New York, NY 10017, United States

If you happen to be in Midtown East, you’ll want to grab a slice at Uncle Paul’s Pizza NY.
This traditional pizza joint serves up all the Italian American favorites, including pizza, calzones, and pasta. I love their food, but I also love their warm and friendly service—you can always count on a positive interaction at Uncle Paul’s.
In terms of what to order, they have a great pepperoni pizza, plus a super popular Sicilian style pie called “Grandma’s Pizza.”
If you aren’t in the mood for pizza, I strongly recommend trying one of their heroes—it doesn’t get better than a big sandwich from a quality pizza shop.
Joe’s Pizza
1435 Broadway, New York, NY 10018, United States

You can get an authentic piece of Italy right in Greenwich Village at Joe’s Pizza.
Founded by Italian native Joe Pozzuoli in 1975, Joe’s Pizza never fails to satisfy my New York pizza craving. This spot is beloved by everyone: residents, NYU students, and tourists all head straight for Joe’s if they’re looking for a slice in Greenwich Village.
I love Joe’s because they have a traditional and straightforward pizza shop menu that has been perfected over the decades.
They have all the classic toppings to choose from, but I’ll go for the beautiful plain cheese pizza any day.
